The South Carolina Bar has opened a toll-free legal assistance covid-19 hotline.

Callers may dial 1-833- 958-2266 toll-free and leave a message with brief details and contact information.

The service is available to single individuals who make less than $51,040 annually and families making less than $104,080.

Qualifying individuals will be matched with volunteer lawyers to provide free legal help.

The bar has also temporarily expanded its South Carolina Free Legal Answers online service to help the public with issues related to the pandemic.

The service is a collaboration between the SC Bar and the American Bar Association to confidentially answer basic legal questions such as landlord-tenant concerns, foreclosure, family law, unemployment and benefits, and debt and bankruptcy.

Additional information about pandemic-related legal help can be found online at www.scbar.org/covidhelp.
