Gray Collegiate sweeps this week’s round of Athlete of the Week honors after two clutch performances from the players to lead their teams to victory.

BJ Montgomery

Running back BJ Montgomery led Gray to a win over Abbeville in the Upper State championship. He scored two touchdowns, including a 77-yard kick return score and followed that with a rushing touchdown to round out his 92-yard night. 

His production has been crucial to the War Eagles’ success this season. Montgomery failed to reach the endzone in all three of Gray’s losses, but in every other game he’s scored at least one. 

Montgomery will gear up for Gray’s final game of the season, the 2A state title game against Oceanside Collegiate. 

Jordan Mintz

Jordan Mintz has been contributing in many areas for the War Eagles girls basketball team early on in their season. 

In the team’s season-opening game last Monday, Mintz recorded eight points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals. She led her team to its first win, scoring a team-high 16 points, while adding four rebounds and three assists in the win against Crestwood. Against Denmark-Olar she added seven points to her team’s total. 

The senior has picked up where she left off from last season and continues to be a pivotal piece in Gray’s system.
