The SC Peanut Queen Pageant will be July 24 at Pelion High School. Division 1 begins at 10 am and includes birth to 12 months, 13-23 months, 2 years and 3-4 years. Division II begins at 5 pm and includes years 5-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-23, and 24+ years. Contact Vicki at 803-200-8173 for details. Applications are also available at the Pelion Library.

TIFFANY MILLER has been promoted to assistant principal of Forts Pond Elementary School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education and a Master of Education in educational technology from USC. She also holds a specialist degree in educational leadership with an emphasis on principal ship from Arkansas State University. She begins as assistant principal on July 1.

EVERYONE is invited July 17 for Fun in the Sun Kids day and car show fundraiser at White Knoll High, 10 am - 1 pm. There will be a silent auction, raffle drawings, a bake sale, crafters, drinks, snacks, treats, local vendors, games and amazing cars, trucks, tractors and bikes with food from Hippie Chicks food truck, Hwy 55, Pelican’s snow cones, and Hoods boiled peanuts.

Superior Towing will be on hand for the “Beat the Buick” attraction.

HANNAH ALEXANDRIA OWENS was awarded the Lander University Provost’s award, the Lander University Art Merit scholarship and the Post Educational Services 3rd annual scholarship. Lakyn Rebekah Phillips received the USC Aiken Athletic scholarship; Stacy Lynn Ricard was the recipient of the American Red Cross scholarship; India Mayrane Roland-Vone received the Coker College Dean’s and the Coker College Tuition scholarships.
