Being organized is one of the keys to success! The October classes for Adulting 101 at the Ir-mo Library focus on helping young people be more organized. The program is October 24 at 6:30 pm for ages 15 and older.

Candy Science is also at the Irmo Library for tweens to learn about the sweet side of candy and candy experiments. This program is October 16 at 4 pm. Call 803-798-7880 for information on both of these programs.

Struggling families in the Irmo and Chapin area depend on local food banks to help feed their children. Harvest Hope Food Bank and We Care Center’s pantry are always in need of items. Green Charter School of the Midlands is partnering with Harvest Hope Food Bank to collect food and personal items during October, between 8 am and 4 pm. Residents wanting to support the food drive can drop off donations at 7820 Broad River Road Irmo.

Chapin’s We Care needs include soup, grits, cereal, canned food, dish and laundry detergent, toiletries, and paper products. Donations can be dropped off at 1800 Chapin Road, Chapin.

A big congratulations to Zach Haney! He is a Chapin native, who was appointed to the Chapin Planning Commission October 1. Chapin is excited to have your expertise and leadership.

Our marching bands are top class in Ir-mo and Chapin. Irmo’s band won the best percussion and 2nd place in the Phillip Mc-Intyre Tournament of bands. Chapin High School’s band earned 1st place a Midlands March Classic. Congratulations to those hard-working band members!
