Hollow Creek plans gifts for homebound

Each year Hollow Creek Community Club members distribute Christmas fruit baskets and poinsettias in the community. Last week at the monthly meeting, members updated the list of homebound recipients who will receive these gifts in December.

Members thanked the officers and trustees who served for 2019 and gave a special thanks to outgoing Trustee O’Neal Sessions for his tireless work. Officers and board members are Timmy Koon, President, Jimmy Lucas, Vice President, Mary Ann Sease, Secretary, Dale Swygert, Treasurer, and Trustees O’Neal Sessions, Frank Whittle, and Phillip Lucas, and Building Rental Chair Dan Tinman.

The officers and board members prepared the Thanksgiving meal and Wendell Evans gave the devotions. Charlotte Swygert, Bryn Sarvis and Lila Loon were recognized for November birthdays. Hollow Creek Community Club members meet the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. For information on becoming a member, email Dale Swygert at: dswygert@sandlappersurveying.com.

Gilbert Pack 60 Scouts Den officers plan their annual Thanksgiving Meal November

24. Scouts and their families will be provided a full Thanksgiving meal. Several Scouts who spent the night camped at Hamilton Branch State Park earned the coveted Polar Bear Scout Patch. The night temperatures that weekend were 32 degrees and below. December 8, Pack 60 Scouts will participate in the Boiling Springs Christmas parade.

Congratulations to the “Teachers of the

Year” from Gilbert schools. Gilbert Primary First Grade Teacher Whitney T. Umbarger, Gilbert Elementary School Fourth Grade Teacher Kristen E. Smalley, Gilbert Middle School Speech Teacher Bridgette L. Lim, and Gilbert High School Science Teacher Dani G. Stroud.

Cherokee Presbyterian Church’s youth group is making and selling cookies to earn money toward their summer mission trips. They also have cookie dough for sale. Orders will be taken through December 11. Cookies can be picked up at the church on December 15. To order, call Liz Cely, 356-4289.

Gilbert-Summit Senior Center crafters thank the community for its support of the Christmas craft show. The show raise monies for the Meals on Wheels program, which provides daily meals to local seniors.
