The Lexington County Museum has over 200 quilts in its collections. Many quilts feature recognizable patterns such as Irish Chain and pinwheel. Sometimes the names of these patterns vary by region but the patterns are recognizable. T

A pattern featured on several of our quilts does not have a known historical name. It has only been found in the Carolinas and Tennessee. Due to this, scholars often call it the Carolina Mystery Pattern. Some have also referred to it by the name sundew. We don’t know what our ancestors called it, we can still admire their beauty.
