The inaugural Auto-Owners Insurance Showcase at Lexington High School this past Saturday promised 5 games and even more All-Star talent. Those in attendance also received plenty of free basketball with 2 overtime contests, one won by 2-time defending Class 5A champion Dorman with head coach and former Wildcat Thomas Ryan, the co-host boys’ team remaining undefeated, the Lady Wildcats upending 3rd-ranked Dorman, and senior guard Olivia Thompson winning the 3-point shooting contest in double sudden death:

Porter-Gaud guard Josiah James, who signed with the University of Tennessee and is ranked as the top senior guard in the state of South Carolina, drives against Dorman’s Ta’Lon Cooper (11) and Tyrese Pilgram in the second half of the marquee matchup of the Auto-Owners Insurance Showcase this past Saturday at Lexington High School. James finished with a game-high 36 points, including 11 straight during a 14-0 run to rally the Cyclones in the 4th quarter to force overtime. He also had 12 rebounds and 7 blocked shots. The Cavaliers outscored Porter-Gaud 10-5 in the extra period to earn the victory and improve to 8-2 on the season. Cooper finished with 23 points and 6 rebounds and was named the Player of the Game. The contest marked a “Homecoming” for Dorman head basketball coach Thomas Ryan, who played at Lexington.
