Irmo renames community park

Posted

In honor of Moore Bradley Myers Senior Partner, S. Jahue “Jake” Moore, Sr., the Town of Irmo renamed Irmo Community Park.

Now called Moore Park, this renaming comes after Moore’s “years of dedication to conservation, beautification, literacy and community service,” as written in a press release from the Moore Bradley Law Firm.

The renaming was made official during the July 16 Irmo Town Council meeting where there was a proclamation given commending Moore.

“An official plaque will be placed on the amphitheater area of the park about Moore and his countless contributions to the Town of Irmo and the Irmo community. Jake Moore also secured the land for the Irmo Veteran’s Park to honor the service and sacrifice of local veterans,” according to the press release. “Moore has been named Ambassador of the Year by the Irmo Chamber of Commerce, Citizen of the Year by the Greater CWC Chamber of Commerce, the Golden Acorn Award from the South Carolina Forestry Association, and the Leadership Award from the MidCarolina Cooperative Lexington Soil Conservation District. He is the Founder of the Irmo Arbor Day Committee and a member of the West Columbia Beautification Foundation.”
