Gatorade named 2 of the Lexington Chronicle’s Athletes of the Year with top honors in their respective sports.
Jayla Jamison of Airport was named Girls Track Athlete of the Year for the 3rd time and Will Taylor of Dutch Fork the Baseball Player of the Year.
A rising senior who’s headed to the University of South Carolina year early, Jamison earned 12 career gold medals during her high school career. A 2-sport Clemson University signee and major league baseball draft prospect, Taylor batted .429, had 34 runs, 30 RBI, 22 walks, 19 stolen bases, 7 home runs, 6 doubles and a .576 on base percentage.
Taylor is the 1st Chronicle Country recipient of the SC Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year award since Lexington High graduate and Baltimore Orioles catcher Nick Ciuffo won the award in 2013.
