Keep off those holiday pounds

Exercise is good for the body and soul! After a 5 week hiatus from my twice a week “boot camp” class at the local gym, I went back this week. It’s amazing how fast one can go from being in shape to out of shape!

The benefits of exercise include weight loss, stronger muscles, and flexibility, increased energy levels, keeps your brain working well and better quality sleep! With all the incredible food in this holiday season, perhaps those extra pounds can be averted by going to the Seven Oaks, Saluda Shoals, and Crooked Creek parks and taking some exercise classes a to burn off those holiday calories.

Town of Chapin Christmas tree lighting will be December 9, 5-6:30 pm at town hall. There will be craft tables for the children and other activities.

The Lexington County Fire service is partnering with Santa to visit all the boys and girls in the Chapin area. He will be driving through town from December 6 to December 11, 6:30-9 pm. Keep a look out for Santa’s decorated fire truck!

The Irmo Community

Park’s free library at the Children’s garden area needs of your extra children’s books. The rules are simple, drop off your extra books, borrow some, or take the books that seem interesting to you. The free library is a yellow structure located next to the bathrooms.

Be involved with your school district and attend the Lexington-Richland School board meeting December 10, 7 pm, at Crossroads Intermediate school.

Holiday Lights on the River at Saluda Shoals will be a delight to see with more than a million sparkling lights, 400 animated displays and other activities such as hayrides, a maze, crafts, marshmallows, and S’mores, plus a visit with Santa! The Holiday Lights will run daily, 6-10 pm, through December 31. Cost is $20 per car.
