Lawyer to head national school group

A longtime Lexington 2 board member is the new president of the National School Boards Association.

Beth Dickerson Branham is the 1st South Carolinian to hold the office.

The NSBA represents more than 90,000 local school board members.

Branham started as an educator, teaching English at Brookland-Cayce High School. As a lawyer, she practices in West Columbia.

She has served on the Lexington 2 board since 2000 and as president and board member of the SC School Boards Association.

She and her husband Keith live in West Columbia with their 4 children.
