Learn how reading ‘rocks’ at the library

Chad Crews will present “Reading ROCKS” on June 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pelion Branch Library. With a hilarious combination of magic, music, storytelling, and live animals, Crews shows how reading makes life a rocking adventure. This event is for grades K-5.

Tween Extreme will experience the wonders of Hawaiian culture through magical stories, songs, chants, and dance on July 3 at 3:30 p.m. This event is for grades 4-7.

S. C. Plants the Seed is on July 5, 2 to 7 p.m., for all ages. This family-centered program teaches children how nutritional foods factor into a healthy lifestyle and adults learn healthy ways to prepare and store fresh fruits and vegetables. Livingston Farms will be there July 5 from 2-7 p.m. Come by and get your fresh vegetables and browse the library while there. This event is presented in partnership with S. C. DHEC & DSS.

Happy Anniversary to Betty and Donald Jeffcoat.

Pelion Senior Center will have its monthly birthday party on June 29.

More scholarship winners include Katheryn Ailes, Brevard College Presidential Scholarship and University of SC School of Music Double Bass Scholarship; Alexis Bass, Lenoir-Rhyne University Scholars Program, Newberry College Academic Scholarship, and Lexington Medical Center; Franklin Conner, Methodist University Merit Scholarship and Methodist University Founders Grant; Taryn Spires, Hollins Scholar Award and Converse Endowed Academic Scholarship; Aaron Spears, Middle Tennessee Trustee Scholarship, Beltmont University General Academic Merit Scholarship, Beltmont University Faculty Scholar, and Elsie Rast Stuart Scholarship. More names will be announced later.
