The Lexington 2 School District will continue virtualonly classes until Jan. 15, after the MLK student holiday.
Students who have opted to attend in-person classes will attend school 5 days a week, in-person after Jan. 15.
Virtual-only classes were extended as a precautionary measure, the district said, because of a reported surge of covid-19 cases in students and staff following the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Lexington 2 Board met for a special meeting, Monday. At that meeting, the Board extended the Families First Coronavirus Response Act until March 31.
The district’s previous FFCRA having expired on December 31.
Under the FFRCA:
• Employees who are close contacts related to covid-19 and able to work are allowed to work from home following set expectations from the superintendent.
• Employees who are positive with covid-19 or a close contact will receive 100% of their salary and benefits, without using leave, for up to 10 days.
• Employees who are positive with covid-19 or a close contact for a second or additional period within the 2020-21 school year will receive 2/3 of their salary and benefits. Leave may be used to supplement and receive 100% of their salary.
