Lexington County Breweries Recommend Summer Beers

Posted

Temperatures are up, and local breweries have solutions.

With four production breweries now operating in Lexington County, there are plenty of local, refreshing options to drink when the temperatures and the humidity are up.

The Chronicle solicited recommendations from each of the county’s breweries for the beers they make that they feel are best for beating the heat. Here’s how three of them responded:

Angry Fish Brewing Co.

106 Fabrister Ln. C

La Festa Italian Pilsner

Hints of sweet grass and spice in the nose and palate with a light mouthfeel that is soft and finishes crisp. Hopped with traditional Noble hops, this 4.7% ABV offering allows the flavor of the hops to be the showcase of the beer.

The Water’s Cold IPA

Brewed to be light and crisp with a soft palate and pronounced citrus and pine flavors, this 6.8% ABV IPA finishes with a slight hop bite that is surprisingly clean and crisp.

Hazelwood Brewing Company

711 East Main St. Suite OS2

Mexican Lager

It’s 5.3% abv and is made with organic key lime puree and sea salt. Super easy drinking and pairs great with tacos. It can be found all over town at any craft beer place, or in our taproom Tuesday-Sunday with 16oz. cans or growlers available to go.

Steel Hands Brewing

2350 Foreman St., Cayce

All Citra IPA (5.5% ABV)

It’s ALL about the CITRA in this single hop India Pale Ale. A hop-forward aroma of brilliant citrusy flavors, this India Pale Ale punches with a wave of bold, yet refreshingly easy going hops, and balances with a soft smooth finish. Hop into a disconnected state of mind and feel the rush of lime, grapefruit and tropical notes with every satisfying sip! Available on draft in the Steel Hands Taproom; also available in our IPA 24-packs.

Juicy Hazy IPA (6.0% ABV)

Bursting with bright, tantalizing hops, this Juicy-Hazy India Pale Ale is pungent, juicy and filled with flavors of peach, tangerine and lemon. A soft and hazy body mingles with flavors of fruit punch to make this an easy beer to crave all day. Amarilla, Mandarina and Citra hops. Available on draft in the Steel Hands Taproom; also available in 12 oz. six-packs, 16 oz. four-packs and our IPA 12- and 24-packs.
