Lexington County resident fined and jailed for blocking clinic

Posted

68-year-old West Columbia resident Steven Lefemine was fined $1,000 and sentenced to 60 days in jail for violating the FACE or Freedom of Access to Clinics Act.

Lefemine was found through many pieces of evidence to have blocked access to the local Planned Parenthood office. It was shown that Lefemine frequently protested at this location and sought to physically bar patients and doctors from entering the building, the press release read.

During the incident, the Columbia Police Department arrested Lefemine for trespassing. While the trial was ongoing, the District Court Judge noted that Lefemine had prior convictions relating to the current charges.
