Lexington County resident found guilty on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor

Posted

Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced the sentencing of a Lexington man who was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor.

On July 10, Michael Scott Valdario was found guilty by a Lexington County jury on two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the first degree and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree.

Valdario was sentenced for two years per the second degree charge and four years per the first degree charge. The sentence will be served concurrently for a total of ten years, according to the release from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Valdario’s case first began in September of 2020 when the parents of one of the victims gave the child’s phone to law enforcement. Investigators found months of requests over text and Snapchat from Valdario for videos and images of the minor engaging in sexually explicit activities and nudity.

The case was investigated by former Lexington County Special Investigator Adam Creech who also handled the forensics for the case. Creech now works in the South Carolina Attorney General’s office.
