AROUND LEXINGTON _ COUNTY

Lexington’s new traffic pattern to ease congestion was implemented this week. By splitting the northbound and southbound movements, the signals at Lake Drive and Church Street can service twice as many vehicles as they do today. This increase in efficiency will allow more green signal time for east and west Main Street at Lake Drive and Church Street.”

For now and in the future, “The improvements will focus on safety and operation of these intersections that serve over 40,000 vehicles per day.”

As we all realize with the phenomenal growth in Lexington, traffic has greatly increased and solutions are being made and we all are glad others have realized the benefits of living in our town of Lexington.

Ambassadors of the Month for the Greater Lexington Chamber of Commerce are Joel Merrill of Fast Signs for April and Amy Lasley of TD Bank for May.

Jada Johnson, granddaughter of Bernie Gibson reports: “My experience at Palmetto Girls State was an unforgettable experience. I learned so many new things about the state and local government and how people should get involved in politics. This experience has also taught me leadership skills that will help me throughout life. I met so many great people and made new friends that will last a lifetime. I heard many wonderful speakers including our very own Town Council member, Kathy Maness. I also learned how the house of Representatives and Senate work to pass bills. This was a week that changed my life and views. I would also like to thank the American Legion Auxiliary Post 217 for sponsoring me so that I could enjoy this experience.”

Plan to attend Veteran’s Recognition Night Tuesday, July 3, at Lexington County Baseball Stadium. The Lexington County Blowfish are honored to salute the service of veterans of foreign conflicts.

A post-game fireworks show is planned. There will be much patriotism! Veterans should contact Kyle Calhoun at the Blowfish office, 803-254-3474, or email kyle@blowfishbaseball.com to register.
