A local Mexican eatery is looking to reopen following a temporary closure. El Amanecer has been closed for a couple of months, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page, but the restaurant is hoping to reopen soon at 200 Wise Rd. in Lexington.
On Nov. 13, El Amanecer posted to the page that it would be “bringing a new style of Mexican cuisine to the Lexington area,” promising brunch meals as part of the venue and announcing that more news and giveaways would be coming soon.
“Thank you everyone for their support through this journey,” the restaurant posted a few days earlier on Nov. 9. “As most of you all know we have been closed for the last couple of months, but we want to let everyone know that we are not done yet! More exciting news to come in the next couple of weeks for our REOPENING date.”
Up to that Nov. 9 post, the page had been inactive since June. Per the restaurant’s Facebook, it opened in February 2022.
“We are an authentic Mexican restaurant, and the first to offer you an authentic Mexican breakfast, where you can find everything from vegetable juices, fresh orange juice, smoothies, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc.,” El Amanecer posted in September of that year. “Also, where you cannot miss some good freshly made flour and corn tortillas prepared to accompany your dish, we try to please your taste but above all provide you with good service.”
The Chronicle reached out to the restaurant but didn’t immediately receive a reply.
We did receive some clarity on why an Irmo restaurant closed permanently recently.
The Irmo outpost of the chain burger joint Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries closed Oct. 29.
“Business hasn’t been great since COVID and unfortunately our landlord isn’t renewing our lease after our 10-year term,” the now-closed location told the Chronicle via Facebook.
The Irmo spot had been open since July 2013. The Lexington Hwy 55 (located at 1795 S Lake Dr.) is set to remain open
Per the Hwy 55 website, the only Midlands locations were in Lexington and Irmo, with the total number of resautanrs in the state now sitting at nine. There are numerous other locations in North Carolina and Tennessee.
