Bad weather would not stop this week’s Athlete of the Week winners from making major contributions to their teams’ wins. 

This week’s two winners come from Lexington and Northside Christian, and despite a week of schedule changes, they managed to perform at a high level. 

Voting for Athlete of the Week runs from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Monday each week at lexingtonchronicle.com/athleteoftheweek.

Cade McNeil

Northside Christian’s Cade McNeil was voted Athlete of the Week after providing the Crusaders a spark on both ends of the floor in their win over Providence Athletic Club. 

McNeil led the Crusaders in scoring with 17 points. He added six rebounds and three steals to round out his performance. 

The junior has been a regular contributor for Northside. McNeil averages 11 points and six rebounds in 24 minutes of action per game. The Crusaders are off to a 9-4 start and looking to defend their first-ever region title. 

Izzy Saville

Lexington’s Izzy Saville earned Athlete of the Week honors after leading the Wildcats to a 2-0 region start. 

Saville has increased her contributions to the team this season and is one of Lexington’s leading scorers and playmakers. 

The team picked up two region wins this week, beating Chapin and River Bluff in rescheduled games due to weather. The team blew out River Bluff and narrowly held Chapin off at home. Saville led the Wildcats in scoring during that contest, scoring 17 points.
