Our Gilbert-Summit Branch Library invites you to join its new 2020 Winter Reading program. The programs include age groups from early literacy to children, teens and adults.

This year you can get a Bingo card from the library or you can download one from the www.lexcolibrary.com website. Each time a child, teen or adult completes five activities across, vertically or diagonally to get Bingo, return the card to the library to receive a prize coupon. Each time you turn in your card you will also be entered into a grand prize drawing. There will be a drawing for each age group with one entry per person. All entries must be received by Friday, January 31, at 5 pm.

Librarian Louise Taylor is excited about the reading programs which begin January 9 and run through April 30. The programs include: Toddlertime, Preschool Storytime, Lego Mania, MLK Day of Service, Books & Beyond: Symmetrical Snowflakes, Valentine’s Day, Brain Teasers, and Outdoor Art. Lego Mania will be held on Wednesdays at 2:45 pm for grades K-12. Participants will use their imagination, curiosity and problems solving skills to build Lego creations.

MLK Day of Service will be held January 21 at 4 pm. Participants are encouraged to get involved in the community with hands-on projects and volunteer at the library in honor of MLK.

Books and Beyond programs will include: using art and math to create symmetrical snowflakes, Valentine stories, crafts, and sweet treats, and exercising and stimulating your mind with brain teasers and puzzles.

Teenscene’s first program will be Financial Literacy: Financial Aid on Thursday, January 16 at 6 pm. Participants will learn about student loans and how to master promissory notes and financial aid. For information, call 785-5387.
