Gilbert artist Candace Thibeault invites the community to attend the Evergreen Holiday Art Show at the Old Mill Brew Pub in Lexington during December. She invited local artists to submit their art and photography for the show and over 40 artists responded. Candace said it was a tough call choosing the entries for the show. She said their work was based on the space available, size of works, and variety of styles available.

Candace said she was excited to see the response for the show and talent in Lexington County. The holiday show is especially exciting, she said, because there will be 30 or so artworks on display. All of the art will be for sale and each piece will include a short artist’s bio. Pieces include traditional and contemporary photography, abstract, local landmark paintings, holiday-themed pieces, landscapes, still life, and more.

Candace said the idea behind theses shows is to offer local artists a way to showcase their talent. These monthly shows also provide the restaurant with new works each month. She said this also gives patrons, the restaurant, and artists something to look forward to. December’s artists include Drew Welch, Kim Case, Monica Mills, Rae Shealy, Robert Johnson, Barbara Teusink, Michelle Curran, Debi Kelly, Barbara Yongue, Dylan Fouste, Iva Madden, Kristin Driggers, Marge Miano, and Yvonna Mills. Candace Thibeault said if anyone is interested in showcasing their work, or if any local businesses are interested in showcasing the talent of locals, email her at candaceurates@yahoo.com or at www.candacethibeault.com .

“Little Bethlehem,” a re-creation of the village where Christ, was born opens this weekend. First Baptist Church of Gilbert invites everyone to see its December tradition of the Christmas Story. For over 16 years, thousands of people have walked the streets and visited with the people who live and work in Little Bethlehem. Visitors have interacted with the villagers and their animals as they made their way to the manger to see the Christ child and his mother Mary. Little Bethlehem is a free walk-through that takes 15 to 20 minutes. Hot chocolate or coffee and Middle Eastern flatbread will be served at Little Bethlehem’s Village Café after the tour. Little Bethlehem is at 403 Peach Festival Road, Gilbert. Tours are December 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, and 15, 6:30-8:30 pm. For information, call the church at 892-3699.
