Local music students win awards

Posted

Marty Fort, owner of the Lexington School of Music, has been awarded 9 patents for his Musical Ladder System® by the US Patent and Trademark Office.

In the award system, music students earn wristbands, trophies and certificates for passing tests with their teachers.

A parent portal software allows parents to see their child’s progress. He started licensing it to other music schools and now over 100 schools in the US, Canada and Europe use the system. A total of 25,000 music students currently are involved.

During covid-19, he added a special “HOPE” wristband to inspire music students to increase their practice, focus and receive a positive message this year.

When students received their Musical Ladder award for passing their test they also got a HOPE wristband. More than 8,000 students have received them to date.

“Something we started for our students here is now used by so many around the world. The Musical Ladder® is the perfect way to keep students excited about lessons. With our software, parents always know how their child is progressing.
