Man accused of Leesville shooting apprehended after fleeing into woods

Posted

A Lexington County man has been arrested after a Leesville shooting.

Vernon Ray Frick, 52, has been charged with attempted murder, domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to a press release.

“Based on what investigators determined at the scene, Frick came onto the victim’s property and started shooting at the victim’s home,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon is quoted. “Frick then fled the scene before deputies arrived.”

According to the release, deputies received information May 22 that Frick was on the 1500 block of Joe Metts Road, stating that he ran into the woods after spotting the patrol car before eventually being apprehended.

Frick is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center following his arrest and after a magistrate judge denied his bond.

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
