Two write-in candidates won council seats in the Pelion election November 5. Newcomer Mike Mascio and returning councilman Daniel Shumpert were among the 13 write-in candidates. Shumpert received 8 votes and Mascio received 6 votes. A total of 32 votes were cast in the election.

The 3rd annual Breakfast with Santa will be held December 7, 7-11 am, at the Pelion Community Center, 951 Pine Street. Tickets are $5 and benefit children programs the Pelion American Legion supports. Children receive breakfast, coloring fun, a treat stocking, a toy from the toy chest, and a picture with Santa.

Pelion Library will host yarn art November 23 at 10 am for all ages. Beginner and advanced crafters are invited. Technology training will be November 27 at 10:30 am for ages 18 and up. This session gives you personal assistance with your computer, tablet, or smartphone. Registration is required. Story time is November 27 at 11 am for ages 1-4 years and includes books, storytelling, poetry, and songs. North of 50 meets November 26 at 11:15 am for ages 60 and up. This event is for senior citizens and includes workshops, crafts, and games. This month’s focus is button crafts and games. The library will be closed for Thanksgiving November 28-29.

Pelion High varsity basketball girls scrimmage Batesburg-Leesville at home November 21 at 5 pm. Girls scrimmage vs Calhoun County at home November 26 at 5:30 pm.

The Pelion Christmas Parade will be December 14 at 3 p.m.

Powder Puff football practice will be November 21 at 3:45 p.m. The first game will be November 22 at 4:30 p.m. The Relay for Life Volleyball game between faculty and students will be November 26 at 11:15 a.m.
