Red Bank Elementary will hold its Fall Festival this Friday from 6 to 8 pm.

This Saturday is the annual Harvest Fest at Red Bank United Methodist Church, 10 am-2 pm. They’ll have children’s activities, including inflatables, games, a hayride, and more. There will be live music on an outdoor stage, including Brent Lundy, Matt and Becky Goudelock, and Stevie Harris. You’ll find tables from dozens of vendors and craftspeople all in one place, and inside they’ll have a country store with baked goods and BBQ lunches for purchase. Call 359-4031 for information; Red Bank UMC is at the corner of Old Barnwell Road and South Lake Drive.

News broke last week that the Red Bank location of the YMCA will be closing. The land is being sold to a developer, presumably to be turned into another new neighborhood. The Y has been in Red Bank for decades, with swimming, an equestrian program not offered at any of its other Midlands facilities, as well as after school care and other programming. Closure means losing a longtime asset to our community and recreational opportunities for many families. More houses means more stress on local roads, and the ones around the YMCA property are only residential two-lane ones. Will they also re-name YMCA Road?

Happy Birthday to Jarett Hill, Heather Clamp, Margaret Boggess, Pauline Smith, Marty Sox, Bella Huffines, Andre Huffines, Ryan Southworth, Faye Hutto, Benny Boggess, Sarita Franks, Joannie Kyzer, Jeff Pierce, Wesley Taylor, and Nate Keisler.

Happy Anniversary to Terry and Elaine Taylor, Doug and Nancy Huffines, Gerry and Jean Scheppman, Garry and Paula Ash, Gavin and Jennifer Huffines, Sid and Gay Hawkins.
