Congratulations to Pelion High students who received scholarships.

The recipients of the Charleston Southern University Student Success Award were MacKenzie Bailey Bennett, Jaidon Bailey Shumpert, and Austin Brooks Shumpert. The Francis Marion scholarship was awarded to Andrew David Boozer. Lauren Colette Duenke was awarded the Air Force Reserve Officer scholarship. The Anderson University Denmark scholarship and the Anderson University Provost scholarship were awarded to Rhegan Sierra Durden.

Monea Irene-Allen Goodson received the Newberry Academic scholarship. Lily Grace Herron received the SAFE Federal Credit Union scholarship. Savannah Nikole Lee received the Gardner-Webb University Provost scholarship. The Presbyterian College Highlander scholarships were awarded to Savannah Rose McLeod and Lydia Grace Mills.

The University of South Carolina Garnet scholarships were awarded to Caitlin Briana Jeffcoat, David Josue Lima, and Savannah Rose McLeod. Lydia Grace Mills was awarded the Charleston Southern University scholarship. McKenna Jade Smith was the recipient of the Anderson College Baptist scholarship, the Anderson University Grant, and the Anderson University Nicholson scholarship.

The Brevard College Half Tuition scholarship was awarded to Angela Jae Moreland. Tayler Brianna Murray was the recipient of the 2018 Art of Healing scholarship. Makenzie Louise Renew received the Clemson SC Palmetto Fellows scholarship.

The SC Palmetto Fellows scholarships were awarded to Charlie Barrett Allemond, Trevor Martin Dunn, Taylor Green Johnson, Leia Noel Cogdill, Lauren Colette Duenke, and Makenzie Louise Renew. The Erskine Flying Fleet scholarship was awarded to Kaleb Dawson Vick. The Lexington Women’s Club scholarship recipient was Leia Noel Cogdill.

The town has received a grant to offer a one-year free tap fee to residents for the upcoming low pressure sewer line which will serve the new Pelion Middle school. Contact the town hall at 894-3535 for more details on this project and the grant.

Pelion Library will host technology training on July 5 at 10:30 am and registration is required. Preschool storytime will be July 5 at 11 am for ages 1-5 years.

The Pelion Senior Center will be closed on July 4. A pool tournament will be held on July 8 and 9 at the center.
