Midlands Technical College professor Robert Gilmer has won the Association of Community College Trustees Faculty Award.
Dr. Gilmer is chair of the MTC Humanities Department and teaches at the Airpoprt campus in Lexington County.
The ACCT recognized him for his commitment to reaching students in a variety of formats that best fit their individual needs.
Dr. Gilmer is a former Adjunct Faculty of the Year winner at MTC.
He worked closely on the college’s new Quality Enhancement Plan.
He created a “virtual backpack” that helps students prepare in taking online courses.
Dr. Gilmer led the way as MTC moved to alternative teaching methods during covid-19.
“Rob is the kind of professor who students love,” said Dr. Barrie Kirk, MTC Provost.
“Whether teaching inperson at our c campuses, online or virtually, he always provides students with a solid foundation of history.”
