Never forget what 9-11 means

I recently visited a beautiful monument at Senate and Lincoln Streets in Columbia. Twin towers with marble plates bear the names of South Carolina’s fallen 1st responders and service members. 2 broken pieces between the towers symbolize the attack. 2 beams from the 72nd floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center are positioned like crossed swords. If you have not yet, please visit this monument. Retired Army Col. Dan Henningan of Lexington and his group, made this 9-11 monument possible.

PELION RURITANS meet April 22. Guest speaker will be Robert “Bob” Scherer who is a US Air Force veteran. He has an impressive resume and received the Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian award given by Gov. McMaster in 2019. He is on the board of the Fisher House and will speak about efforts to build a house at the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.

THE FLAG POLE and flag were stolen from American Legion Post 78 in North. They need help resurrecting a new American Standard in its place. Donations may be mailed to the Nelson-Bass Post 78, 10099 North Rd., North, SC 29112.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Debbie Padgett, Gaynelle Williams, and Brandy Babbel.
