New city flag has local connection

Maybe you’ve seen the new city flag design that was announced recently in Columbia, but you may not realize it has a Red Bank connection. The winning design, selected after a process that took several years, came from Nate Puza of The Half and Half, a graphic design studio in Columbia. Puza grew up in Red Bank before attending the University of South Carolina. He and his firm design prints, posters, and more for events, major recording artists such as Phish and the Avett Brothers, and now a new Columbia City flag. Congrats to Nate for his creativity, and for representing Red Bank well.

It’s time to think of summer activities. A science-based camp called Camp Invention: Spark Imagination Through STEM, includes hands-on activities inspired by inventors. Kids will get a customized robot to take home at the end. The program will be at Red Bank Elementary June 22-26, and it is open for registration now, with discounts for registering before March 31. The camp runs 8:30 am to 3 pm daily for students entering grades K-6th. Register online at www.INVENT.ORG/CAMP or call 800-968-4332.

Did you order those irresistible Girl Scout Cookies last month? Local delivery of those orders should start this week. Retail booth sales will kick off soon, so watch out for those patch-covered vests and scouts on delivery runs in your neighborhoods.
