The Lexington County Blowfish are set to begin their 6th season in Lexington County in just under one month.

The roster has taken shape over the last several weeks and new head coach Matt Padgett is ready to get the season underway.

“Just working with some guys at different camps, it’s been great to hear the crack of the bat and the pop of the glove,” Padgett stated. “Our guys are looking forward to coming out and competing.”

The Blowfish welcome back local talent such as River Bluff graduates Aaron Adams and Josh Senter and Lexington graduates Jared Kirven as well as Stephen Kight and Ward Hacklen. There are also 4 South Carolina players also to join the roster in 2020 (1B Wes Clarke, RF Brady Allen and pitchers Brett Kerry and Andrew Peters) along with 3 Clemson Tigers.

Lexington County will field a team that is very Palmetto State friendly squad in 2020.

“I did the best I could to get the best players from the state of South Carolina because I believe that’s very important,” Padgett said.

In total, the Blowfish will welcome 32 players to Lexington County Baseball Stadium for the 2020 season.

“I’m excited to get going and have the guys report and work with them to get ready for the season,” Matt said in closing.

Players are set to report June 15 for 2 weeks of practice before opening night.

The Coastal Plain League announced the postponement of the 2020 season to July 1 with a revised schedule with 25 home games. For the latest team news, visit www.blowfishbaseball.com.
