4 charged in March shooting death
Three Columbia men and a juvenile have been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Peachtree Place apartments parking lot. Correy Brown, 21, and Mathia Chambers, 17, are charged with murder and armed robbery for the March 18 incident, according to arrest warrants. Both are being held in the Lexington County Detention Center. Breondre Johnson, 22, is still at large and wanted on a charge of accessory to murder after the fact, according to an arrest warrant. The fourth minor defendant is charged with murder and armed robbery. He is in custody.
Woman gets 12 years for crime spree
Brittany Michelle Furubotten, 33, of Swansea, pleaded guilty to one count of Burglary, 2nd degree (Violent), one count of Burglary, 2nd degree (Non-violent), and five counts of Forgery, value less than $10,000, with all sentences to run concurrently.
Financial predator will serve 20 years
Tristan Addison Widener, age 29, pleaded guilty this week to multiple financial crimes and was sentenced to 20 years in prison, followed by five years of probation and restitution to the victims. Widener stole credit cards from an 87 year-old dementia patient at Gardens Alzheimer’s Care Center in 2016. He also stole checks from a 97 year-old, for whom he was working as a private caregiver. Widener was charged with 6 counts Exploitation of a Vulnerable adult among other charges.
