Boater held in 2 river deaths

Newberry Police have arrested a man for the deaths of 2 Lexington County boaters.

Dylan Yancey Steele, 26, is charged with 2 counts of DUI water device resulting in death and violation to stop for Coast Guard signal.

The deadly boating collision occurred on the Broad River Saturday night about 9:43 pm.

Jamie Lindler, 27, of Chapin, and Andrew Bunnell, 28, of Irmo, died in the boat collision.

Autopsies are pending.

2 dead in Cayce shooting

A weekend shooting in Cayce left 2 Columbia men dead.

Isiah Bailey, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple gunshot wounds.

Khajari Brown, 19, suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Another individual is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting occurred in the 1100 block of Allen Street in Cayce at approximately 1 am Sunday.

Lexington County Man arrested in child sex crimes

Gregory Scott Roland, 46, of Columbia, has been arrested on 7 charges connected to the sexual exploitation of minors.

Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office made the arrest. Investigators with the SC Attorney General’s Office, also a member of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted with the investigation.

Investigators state Roland distributed and possessed files of child sexual abuse material.

Roland was arrested July 28. He is charged with 1 count of sexual exploitation of a minor, 2nd degree, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment; and 6 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, 3rd degree, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count.

This case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.

Lexington County inmate dies

A West Columbia man has died while incarcerated in the Lexington County Detention Center.

The inmate has been identified as Vincent Greg Horner Jr., 53, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.

“Lexington County deputies arrested Mr. Horner Thursday on charges of driving under suspension, simple possession of marijuana and resisting arrest,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.

“He was transported to the detention center and booked in shortly after 5 pm.”

Horner was found unresponsive in his bunk inside a cell with other inmates early Friday morning, according to Koon.

SLED is investigating.
