AROUND LEXINGTON COUNTY

The old saying goes, “Eat oysters in months with an “R” and cold weather.

We all did just that at the Greater Lexington Chamber of Commerce Oyster Roast Saturday at The Grove. Wind and cold temperatures did not keep chamber supporters and oyster lovers from attending this annual event.

Attendees gathered around heaters and listened to the live music and watched their favorite ball game on TVs provided. Among the many enjoying the evening were Mary and Jerry Howard, Lou and Bill Kennedy, Randy Halfacre, Allison and Rick Sanford, Beth and Azmi Jebali, Dawn Jacobs, Summer Schmidt, Sandra Crawford, Lynn and Gary Deese, Jackie and Butch Hale, Bobby Cousins, Jimmy Berry, Brenda and Keith Dooley, Tyler Wilson, Ya Ma Ya, Gladia and Tom Dome, Sheri Bridgman, Audrey Lorence, John Reeder, Otis and Melissa Rawl and daughter Anna, Chris Petty, Sondra Gettys, Connor Watkins and many more!

The chamber held its regular monthly meeting Nov. 12 with speaker Lou Kennedy, president and CEO of Nephron Pharmaceuticals. She spoke on the programs and achievements of the Midlands Business Leadership Group.

Ben Fuller of First Citizens Bank was named Ambassador of the Month.

It was announced that Gen. Robert L. Caslen, president of the University of South Carolina, will be at the chamber office Nov. 22 from 10:15 to 11:15 am for a meet and greet. Also, the chamber Jingle Mingle will be Dec. 3, 5:30-7:30 pm, for your Christmas shopping opportunity.

Hollow Creek Tree

Farm will have an Elf Village for children Nov. 23, 9 am-1 pm, for cookie decorating, making reindeer food and taking pictures ($10) with Santa. It’s at 228 Windmill Rd., Gilbert.
