A Gaston man was struck and killed while walking in the roadway of US 321 Sunday.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the pedestrian as John Scott Castner, 52.

According to Coroner Fisher, Castner was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries after being struck by a motor vehicle in the 4900 block of US 321 just after 6 pm, Nov. 1.

Castner was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, who was uninjured, stopped at the scene.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
