Pelion gets new fire trucks

Aceremony was held on November 29 to dedicate Engine 6 and Engine 28 to the Pelion Fire Department. These two new fire trucks were funded by a federal Community Development Block Grant. On hand for the dedication were Lexington County Fire Chief Brad Cox; Deputy Fire Chief David Fulmer; Scott Whetstone, Lexington County Council; and numerous others.

Pelion Library will host Technology Training on December 12 at 10:30. Registration is required. Preschool storytime will be December 12 at 11 am for ages 2-5. Cookie Swap and Tea Party will be December 6 at 6 pm. Bring six dozen homemade cookies on a platter, your favorite cup and saucer, and a light snack to share. Sample tasty treats and grab new recipes. This event is for ages 15 and up.

Porkchop Productions will present Holly & the Snowman December 8 at 9:30 am. Join Holly the Elf on her quest to make a seemingly impossible holiday wish come true. Will Jack Frost be willing to change his icy ways or will tropical snow be a no-go? Find out in this Porkchop original that is sure to warm even the frostiest of hearts. This event is for all ages.

TeenScene meets December 13 at 6 pm featuring Bad Art Night. Create your most awful masterpiece to win. All materials are provided. This event is for grades 6-12.

Forts Pond Elementary service seekers are working with Ms. Siceloff designing Christmas tree ornaments for local veterans this holiday season. The ornaments are student designed on software and printed with the new 3D printer (funded by an MCEC Bright Idea Grant). Mr. Shealy’s fifth grade class is now No. 68 in the nation in First in Math; No. 1 in South Carolina Lexington One and FPES.

Pelion Elementary PTO will sponsor the annual Penguin Patch Kid’s Holiday Shop until Dec. 7, 8 am. until 3 pm.

Pelion High will meet at Gilbert on December 8 for wrestling at 7 am. Varsity wrestling meets on December 8 at North Augusta. Varsity basket ball plays North on December 8 at 1 pm. Varsity wrestling meets at Brooklyn-Cayce on December 11 at 5 pm. December 12 wrestling meets at Gilbert at 5 pm. December 13 JV basketball plays Columbia at 6 pm.

Pelion Senior Center will meet with Lexington First Baptist December 11. On December 13, the seniors will travel to Beulah Methodist, 9:30 am until 2 pm.
