Pre-teens can get vaccine

State health officials have lowered the ages to be vaccinated.

Lexington Medical Center is now offering the Pfizer covid-19 vaccine to those age 12 and up at Brookland Baptist Church 7 am – 5 pm Monday to Friday and 1 - 4 pm on Sunday.

Vaccinations take place inside the church’s Health and Wellness Center at 1066 Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia.

Dr. Sara Wallace, a Lexington Medical Center pediatrician, said the vaccine has similar side effects as in adults - fever and soreness at the injection site. A parent or guardian must
