Some news to note this week of changing faces in our local institutions.

First, Red Bank Elementary principal Marie Watson retired effective July 1 after many years at the school.

Janet Ricard was recently named as the new RBE principal, she starts this week. Ricard has 21 years of instructional experience, and she comes from assistant principal positions at Pelion Elementary and Saxe Gotha Elementary. In 2017, she won the SC Association of School Administrators Elementary School Assistant Principal of the Year award and in 2018 she was awarded the SC Alpha Delta Kappa Excellence in Education award. She’s a graduate of USC-Aiken with a Masters from USC Columbia. Welcome to Red Bank, Principal Ricard!

Mot Caulder has decided to retire as head of the music program at St. James Lutheran Church after 22 years of service in that ministry. Last Sunday was her final week in the position and a reception was held following the service to thank her for her many years of dedication. The church newsletter referred to Caulder as a “integral part of our ministry” and she’ll surely be missed by many. We wish her luck in retirement and her future endeavors.

Happy July 4th to all. Remember while you’re cooking that BBQ or hanging out on the lake that it’s a holiday to remember our country’s founding and independence. Also remember to patronize local fireworks stands but please use all that ammunition up by the end of the weekend, those who work next Monday will thank you.

Happy birthday this week to Natalee Azzara, Cheryl Smith, Lindsey Southworth, Mildred Harmon, Tanner Hucks, Bryson Hutto, Todd Jeffcoat, and Rob Bedenbaugh.

Happy anniversary this week to the following couples: Bruce and Diane Brown, Bryan and Karen Cress, James and Shirley Coates, Doug and Yvonne Miller, and Derrell and Marie Lambert.
