Registration is now open for the City of West Columbia’s second annual Kinetic Derby Day. The vent is scheduled for April 27.
There are several new components to Kinetic Derby Day this year, including a Zero Gravity launch for derby racing and a literary character/book themed Kinetic sculpture parade.
West Columbia’s Kinetic Derby Day committee is working with schools, artists, and businesses to engage broad community participation. To register to race or participate in the kinetic sculpture parade, for volunteer opportunities, and for more information, visit www.kineticderbyday.com . Registration ends April 20, 2019. The first 25 registrants will receive a yard sign to let friends and neighbors know about your participation and encourage them to join in.
The Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber is hosting its annual Holiday Bazaar.
It’s Saturday, Nov. 17, 9 am-1 pm at Glenforest School, 1041 Harbor Dr., West Columbia.

West Columbia officials announced Nov. 6 that the Moffatt Street entrance of the West Columbia Riverwalk would close temporarily for an SC Department of Transportation bridge inspection. The entrance has now been reopened.
All lanes of I-26 west were closed Monday for several miles, near US 1 due to a jackknifed truck. The lanes were eventually opened and all was clear, according to the West Columbia Police Department.
