Rhythm on the river moves to Friday

Posted

There’s a lot of anticipation this week.

The Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce’s 2018 Rhythm on the River Fall Series begins Friday.

The Fall concert series has been moved from Sunday afternoons to Friday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. at the River-walk Amphitheater in West Columbia.

“We listened to our audience, and that’s why we moved it to Friday,” said Richard Skipper, executive director of the C-WC Chamber.

Skipper also said there is a shuttle from a couple of parking lots in the area to the Riverwalk Amphitheater. The concerts are presented by House of Raeford and the City of West Columbia. The concert will be a homecoming of sorts for the performers. Friday’s band, “Going Commando” played the first Rhythm on the River concert more than 10 years ago. The band has not played Rhythm on the River since. The schedule is as follows:

• Friday (Sept. 28) Going Commando Band; Food Truck – The Haute Dog Lady;

• Oct. 5 – Tokyo Joe; Food Truck – Scott Benny’s;

• Oct. 12 – Gaslight Street; Food Truck – Carolina Cookin’;

• Oct 19 – Ashes of Old Ways – Emma Kate McLain; Food Truck – Karen’s Mobile Kitchen

Shuttle service provided by the City of West Columbia Hospitality Funds.

The Shuttle locations are: Capital Square Shopping Center on Sunset Boulevard and the parking lot at 435 Meeting Street (behind Terra Restaurant.)

There is also public parking available at Moffatt Street Riverwalk Entrance (no trolley pick-up; bike and pedestrian access only.)

The city also advises concert audience not to park on Court Avenue or Oliver Street. For questions regarding parking for these events, please contact the City of West Columbia’s Public Information Officer Anna Huffman at 803-939-8613 or ahuffman@westcolumbiasc.gov .
