Cotton Branch Farm Animal Sanctuary invites the community to celebrate 15 years of “Liberation, Compassion, and Outreach” for farm animals. “We are so honored to have been serving the Carolinas and beyond for 15 years, and we are beyond excited to celebrate with everyone.”

CBFAS will have an amazing list of special guest speakers, plus the founders.

The 15th anniversary event will be held October 19 in Charlotte. Everyone attending will enjoy a vegan buffet from Nourish restaurant and a silent auction.

CBFAS is located between Gilbert and Batesburg-Leesville and provides a safe haven for abandoned, abused, neglected, and elderly farm animals. For ticket information, visit www.cottonbranch.org .

Get ready for some scares and thrills for Halloween. The Gilbert House of Terror opens this weekend, October 12, at 7:30 pm. Their ghosts and ghoulies are excited because they have GHOT T-shirts for sale. The Tee shirts are printed front and back and cost $15 each. With each sale a dollar donation goes to local charities they support. T-shirts are limited, so please order soon.

New this year is Dead Acres, which is next to the House of Terror. As you tour the farm, look out for some friendly zombies and ghoulies. GHOT will be open each weekend until November 1. GHOT is a non-profit organization that supports several local charities. It is at 739 Harley Taylor Road. For information, call 892-5396.

Gilbert artist Candace Cotterman Thibeault tells us another Gilbert artist, Yvonna Mills, has her paintings displayed at the Old Mill in Lexington. Yvonna Mills paints acrylic nature art. Her works can be viewed at the Old Mill Brew Pub until the end of October.

Pond Branch United Methodist Church will celebrate its Homecoming October 13. Morning worship begins at 9:30 am with guest Dr. Mike Pasquarello of Beeson Divinity School. A covered dish lunch will follow at 11:45. The annual Revival is October 13-15 at 7 nightly. Dr. Pasquarello will preach and be joined by musical guests. PBUMC invites everyone to share in the celebration and thanksgiving. PBUMC is 1/4 mile off I-20, Exit 44 at 1913 Pond Branch Road.
