Students in Lexington County School District One will participate in the upcoming election cycle by organizing a debate.

The district’s Center for Law and Global Policy Development, located at River Bluff High, invites the public to a Second Congressional District Debate, held Tuesday, October 30, at 9:15 a.m. in RBHS’s Performing Arts Center.

U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson, the Republican incumbent, and Democratic Candidate Sean Carrigan have agreed to participate.

The debate features questions submitted by RBHS students that address major issues facing South Carolina and the nation. Three second-year students from the Center for Law and Global Policy Development will present the questions.

Meg Huggins, assistant principal at RBHS, will serve as debate moderator.

The League of Women Voters of the Columbia Area is co-sponsoring the debate.
