Gilbert Pack 60 Scouts, their families, Gilbert Town Council members, Ruritan Club members and many other volunteers placed the Christmas lights throughout the Gilbert Community Park Dec. 1. A few hours later, the annual Carol Lighting was held. Pack 60 helps place the lights each year as a community service project. The lights are turned on each night for viewing until January 1.

Santa Claus and Mrs. Santa Claus invite local children to eat breakfast with them. Santa and his wife will be at Beulah United Methodist Church December 14 at 9 am. Children can talk with Santa Claus and afterwards Mrs. Claus will help them make Christmas crafts. For information, call 892-2842.

The Gilbert-Summit Branch Library has a good selection of Christmas books and videos for children. December 17 at 5:30 pm family game night will be held at the library. Participants will play board games and challenge their friends and family on their strategic moves. December 19 at 4 pm children in grades K through 12 will enjoy decorating cookies with an array of toppings.

Liz Briggs invites the community to hear the Chancel Choir at Pond Branch United Methodist Church present a Christmas Cantata, “Bethlehem Morning.” The concert is December 15 at 9:30 am. The Children’s Christmas Pageant will be at 5 pm. in the Family Activities Building. Everyone is invited to stay for a covered dish meal. For information and directions call 657-5481.

Cotton Branch Farm Animal Sanctuary’s monthly Volunteer WorkLuck is December 14, 10:45 am-2 pm. Afterwards, there will be a Vegan Potluck. Volunteers will spend time with the animals and help as needed at the farm. CBFAS is a nonprofit organization that is a efuge for farm animals.
