Cotton Branch Animal Sanctuary held its monthly Open House Day this past weekend. Guests were given the opportunity to feed, interact with and learn about the rescued farm animals. The farm has pigs, cows, donkeys, horses, chickens turkeys, ducks, sheep and goats. The farm held “Pizza and Pigs” at the Mellow Mushroom restaurant July 23. CBAS brought several piggie friends who enjoyed meeting the guests. Some of the pigs were available for adoption.

The farm is always in need of donations of blankets, peanut butter, fresh fruit, garden vegetables, and bread, which can be dropped off at the farm. CBAS will cebrate its 15th anniversary October 19 and is planning a Cotton Branch Gala. Plans are for special guest speakers, a buffet, and more. Tickets can now be purchased from the website with proceeds benefitting the farm. The event will be held in Charlotte. For information, visit the Cotton Branch Animal Sanctuary Facebook page.

School registration begins in just three weeks. Gilbert High School’s is August 8, 7:30 am -noon and 2-6 pm. A makeup registration will be held August 15, 7:30 am-4:30 pm. Freshman are invited to attend their orientation August 16, 2 to 4 pm. After the orientation the students will enjoy a tailgate at 5 pm prior to Sports-O-Rama. For information, call GHS at 821-1900.

GHS has new teachers this year. GHS welcomes Deandre Scott, Science; Emily Moore, English; Martha Rapio, Spanish; Oz Exume, PE and Weightlifting; Susan Williams, Science; Eddy Bui, History; and Shenita Chapman, Career Specialist.

Gilbert Middle School has hired several new teachers this year. GMS gives their “Warrior Welcome” to these new teachers: Billie Swygert, 6th grade ELA and Social Studies; Justin Shaw, 7th grade Math; Toni Gunter, 6th grade Math and Science; Lacie Donaldson, 7th grade Science; Alis Romero Martinez, Spanish; Kelly McElwain, 8th grade ELA; Angie Augustynm 8th grade Math; Zachary Lybrand, 7th grade Social Studies; and Alex Bedenbaugh, Counselor.

Gilbert Middle School has posted its school supply list and registration information for 6th grade on its Facebook page.
