Donna Neel, director of the Gilbert-Summit Senior Center, said the members will be very busy this month. October will be filled with activities she believes the members will enjoy.

Last week, members enjoyed a morning of bowling in Lexington, shuffleboard, bean bag toss in the gym and health seminars. Neel said the members are looking forward to going to the SC State Fair October 15 and touring the exhibits.

To celebrate Halloween, members will tour the Robert Mills House to see the Scarecrows in the Garden exhibit. Halloween will be celebrated with the members having a costume parade, games and a party. Neel says the members will learn how to make Fall wreaths and other crafts.

The GSSC crafters would like to thank the community for supporting its recent craft sale for Meals on Wheels. Exciting news! The crafters didn’t sell all of their crafts and plans are for another craft sale prior to Christmas.

Recently the GSSC acquired many soft and hardback books they are selling for only 25 cents at the center. The GSSC would like seniors age 60 years and older to visit with them. Each day is filled with activities, health seminars and field trips. For more information, call 893-5745.

Gilbert-Summit Branch Librarian

This week the Tween Extreme participants made dog toys to give to shelter pups or for their own dogs. The library also has a good selection of Halloween books to check out that children will enjoy. For information, call 785-5387.
