Senior center plans to reopen

Posted

Due to the pandemic, our Gilbert-Summit Senior Center was closed for 1.5 years. Good news: The center will reopen July 6.

Director Donna Neel said opening will begin with Phase 1 practicing social distancing for a few weeks. Activities for members will also be limited. Meals on Wheels and lunches will be served.

If you are a senior 60 years or older you can join. For details call 803-892-5745.

THE COUNT is in. Gilbert-Summit Branch Library book club members have chosen their summer reading book, “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrick Backman to discuss.

The other book choices were: “Before She was Helen” by Caroline Cooney, and “Sold on a Monday” by Kristina McMorris.

The book club will continue through August. Summer reading for children, “Tails & Tales,” is going well. Due to issues with Creator Studio, the library is unable to share videos on their Facebook page. Videos are posted to the Lexington County Facebook page.
