A Lexington senior living facility has begun a new program for its residents: woodworking.
The program was designed for residents in memory support at Carolina Gardens – Lexington to help them stay active.
The first major project the residents worked on was in honor of National Peace Officer’s Memorial Day.
The project was suggested by a resident who retired from the SC Highway Patrol.
Residents worked together to create a Policeman’s Plaque, which they gave to the Lexington Police Department. The plaque now hangs in the department’s training room.
“The residents were very inspired to give back to the community and to recognize those men and women who take care of others,” said Cathy Casanova, Administrator of Carolina Gardens – Lexington.
