SLED investigates Lexington County officer-involved shooting

Posted

The South Carolina Law Enforcement division is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened on Aug. 2 at Lexington Medical Center.

Members of the Lexington Medical Center Department of Public Safety responded to a complaint from the hospital’s emergency department about a male patient armed with a handgun.

During the encounter, an officer shot the patient and also employed an officer’s taser, according to the press release.

Because this is an ongoing investigation, SLED will not be releasing further details at this time.
