Friday – June 7

Nashville Nights (concert)

Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman St. in Cayce) kicks off their Nashville Nights concert series. The series welcomes fast-rising country music acts to the Steel Hands stage, and this week Nate Fredrick & The Wholesome Boys will play a raucous set. Host and singer/songwriter Michael Haney hosts the evening, and a local act (TBA) opens the show. This event begins at 6 p.m. and is free to attend. Karen Waldrup (concert)

Singer/songwriter Karen Waldrup performs at the Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.). Hijacked (concert)

Native American Lifeways

12,000 Year History Park (1120 Ft. Congaree Tr. in Cayce) invites you to spend Saturday morning on their Native American Lifeways walking tour. Native Americans played a strategic role in the economy and welfare of the Carolina Colony, on this tour you will learn more about their role here and how the historic resources of the park are relevant to the lives and culture of Native peoples today, including the Cherokees and Catawbas. JJ Sansaverino (concert)

Chayz Lounge (607 Meeting St. in West Columbia) and guitarist JJ Sansaverino present “A Night of Smooth Jazz and Soulful Grooves.” Sansaverino plays his own hits and classics by Janet Jackson, The Isley Brothers, Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, Michael Jackson and more. Lake Murray Symphony Orchestra (concert)

Summer Reading Kickoff

The Gaston Branch Library (214 S. Main St.) kicks off their Summer Reading program with a fun event. There will be family-friendly games and snacks for the kids as they begin their summer at their local library. Tuesday – June 11

Taste On The River

Stone River (121 Alexander Rd. in West Columbia) and the West Columbia Beautification Foundation host the annual Taste On The River event. This culinary experience features food from 13 different local restaurants, including Black Rooster, Cafe Strudel, SakiTumi, The Dragon Room, Blue Marlin, Hite’s BBQ and more. Carter Lybrand (concert)

Hazelwood Brewing Company (711 E. Main St.) hosts their weekly Music Bingo night. The game is simple: Your card has 25 squares filled with song titles & artists. The host announces the music round & then starts to play the music. Your job is to listen carefully and cross the songs & artist off your card. Fill out 5 in a row  and that’s bingo. Morning Yoga

The Columbia Museum of Art (1515 Main St.) invites you to Boyd Plaza on Friday, June 7 for a gentle Morning Yoga session. The session, taught by Andre Drummond, is for those who want to practice at a slower pace to support movement patterns, mindfulness and overall wellbeing. The class can be taken on a mat or sitting in a chair; both will be provided. Morning Yoga runs from 7am to 8am, and is free to attend, though registration is required. The Koger Center for the Arts (1051 Greene St.) and The Palmetto Opera present “A Celebration Of Love” on Sunday, June 9. A multi-media event, complete with a backdrop of projected images highlighting each performance, “A Celebration of Love” is an homage to the entire spectrum of love and romance. This performance features local soloists Diamond Tyler, soprano and Johnnie Felder, tenor. Showtime is 3 p.m., and tickets cost between $60 and $65.
