The Tall Cop
The Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College Blvd. Irmo) presents “The Tall Cop: High In Plain Sight.” This community event features Officer Jermaine Galloway, also known as "The Tall Cop." This nationally recognized program will equip you with the knowledge to identify potential risk factors for substance abuse among youth. Registration is required to secure your spot, but this event is free to attend. “The Tall Cop” begins at 8 a.m. and is for adults 18 and over only. Visit harbisontheatre.org for more information.

Johnny & Heidi Bulford (concert)
The Nashville Nights Summer concert series rolls on at Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman St. Cayce). This week’s performers are Johnny & Heidi Bulford. Johnny wrote hits for Lee Brice and Chris Young, and Heidi has landed three songs in the country Top 100. A local opener kicks things off at 6 p.m., followed by host Michael Haney. The Bulfords play until 9:30 p.m. Enjoy food and drink specials like the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and Nashville Nights Iced Tea Ale. This event is free to attend. Sunset On The Shoals
Saluda Shoals Park (5606 Bush River Rd. Columbia) hosts Sunset On The Shoals, a perfect summer evening event. The McKoy Family Band (concert)

Purple Haze: A Conservation Film
The Pilgrim Lutheran Church (1430 N. Lake Dr. Lexington) hosts a screening of “Purple Haze: A Conservation Film.” After millions of years of evolution, North America’s largest swallow species, the Purple Martin, is almost completely dependent on man-made nesting structures. Captain Zach Steinhauser chases these birds across their range to understand exactly how this species put themselves in this position. Happy Hobbit Artisan Market

Toucan Tuesday

Across the county line

The Saluda County Sherriff’s Office and the Carolina Truck & Tractor Pullers and Southern Pullers present the 2024 Saluda Young Farmer Tractor pull on Friday, July 19 (140 Public Safety Dr. Saluda). Check out more than ten different vehicle classes, including Light Pro Stock Tractors, Pro Stock 4WD Trucks, Super Farm Tractors and many more. Lawn chairs are welcome and there is a $5 charge for bringing in a cooler. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the event begins at 7 p.m. Tickets cost between $15 and $35. Typically, the Enoree River Winery (1650 Dusty Rd. Newberry) presents musical acts for an audience to enjoy as part of their Unpack The Porch series. The S.C. State Fairgrounds (1200 Rosewood Dr. Columbia) and the Richland County Sherriff’s Dept. host the “Guardians Of The Night K9 5K” on Saturday, July 20. This night run offers a fun, flat, fast-paced race giving runners the opportunity to run alongside Richland County Sheriff's Department K9 Deputies and their own K9 partners. The event raises funds to benefit the RCSD K9 team, helping them pay for training, food, safety equipment, collars, leads and custom-fit ballistic vests and more for each dog.
