Support State Guard emergency response

our reADERS WRITE

Since 1670, the all-volunteer SC State Guard has had boots on the ground trained and ready to serve when called upon.

The State Guard responded to hurricanes Joaquin, Harvey, Matthew and Florence.

The SC legislature has designated the May as “State Guard Month” to bring awareness about the important role this historic organization has played. As part of State Guard Month, the SC Missions and Operations Support Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, has launched “Boots on the Ground” fund raising campaign to help with essential training and to buy equipment and other necessities that would be paid for by our volunteers.

Those who support the State Guard can help us meet our $350,000 fund raising goal. For a donation of $5 or more to the “Boots on the Ground” campaign the name or the name of a loved one will be placed on boot cutouts displayed at participating establishments.

You can make a secure online donation through the State Guard Mission & Operations Support Foundation website at https://scsgmops.org or visit us on Face-book at @SCStateGuard to donate via one of the posted “Donate” buttons.

Additional information can be found at http://sg.sc.gov/newsroom/?p=387 .
